Chinese Whisper

Mediating places by writing about them or forming them is a very different task in art and architecture. What seems to be objectively grasped in plans and files with ease in architecture is reformulated here by art. This is to be performed through a subjectively produced loss of information in this exercise. In the popular game Chinese Whispers, one hears how information is lost in transmission; this becomes the principle instrument for the course. The written interpretation of a place can literally become a new location through a metaphorically whispered transfer. The course participants individually visit a selected site and then turn in a written interpretation of the location. This interpretation is re-interpreted three-dimensionally by other participants with various materials. Subjective experience and the loss of information create models, objects and sculptures.zurück
